The Asociación de Ingenieros Navales y Oceánicos de España (AINE, Spanish Association of Naval Architects) organizes in Gijón, Spain, the 51st Naval Architecture and Maritime Industry Congress. Its slogan is “The maritime future of Spain and its role in Europe. Impact in Asturias”. The congress will take place from the 17th to 19th of October 2012.
The Congress is intended to comprise the following areas of interest:
1. SSS, maritime highways and transport logistics
Maritime highways as a high quality means of passenger and goods transport from Spain to Europe. Asturias as a SSS "hub" bound for Europe. New maritime highways.
SSS ships. Its design, construction, operation, repair and life cycle support.
Infrastructure, ports and terminals for the SSS ships.
The commercial exploitation of the SSS in Europe. The role of large logistics companies.
National and European SSS legislation.
2. Energy efficiency in maritime transport. Emission reduction
The energy efficient ship of the future. Its design, construction, operation, repair and life cycle support. New equipment and systems.
The ecological ship or Green Ship. Its design, construction, operation, maintenance, repair and dismantling. New equipment and systems.
Operational and accidental discharges from ships and marine artifacts. Objectives and technological developments for their elimination and restraint.
The operational emissions of SOx and NOx from ships and marine artifacts. Objectives and technological developments for their elimination and restraint.
The energy and environmental challenges of the future. Impact on IMO and MARPOL regulations.
